About Us
Over one hundred years ago, the Forsyth Institute was founded to provide free dental care to Boston’s poorest children. It was quickly determined that treating the ravages of dental disease was simply impossible given the limitations in knowledge of their causes and best means of prevention—thus began an exciting journey of scientific discovery. In the decades following, our research helped to transform the way the world understands oral health. Forsyth scientists have demonstrated distinct connections between oral diseases and health challenges like heart disease, diabetes, and even certain cancers, and are tackling other global infectious diseases like tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. We have assembled a world class, multidisciplinary scientific team capable of system-wide approaches to biomedical innovation with the potential for profound impact.
