Description
Ill-fated love. The fragility of peace. Familial strife. These themes have resonated with us for centuries, appearing regularly in the art and stories of every generation. In REMINISCING, Mara Bonde (soprano), Sandra Piques Eddy (mezzo soprano), and Brian Moll (piano) explore these themes through the prism of memory. Performing standards that are at least 50 years old—and often a bit older than that—the trio has curated a program that explores the hazards of love as well as its enduring power. Featuring works by a swath of composers/librettists, their repertoire includes rarely performed German songs by women composers, songs from the Jewish-American diaspora, and works by LGBTQ+ composers, all of whom found their voice through song. Before this rich repertoire becomes lost in our collective memory, come celebrate the most personal works by Brahms, Gershwin, Berlin, Bernstein, and many more.
