Join us for the premiere screening of Community Art Center’s 27th Annual Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film Festival, the longest-running youth film festival in the country. This festival is not just about the videos, it's about who makes them and why. Films by local and national youth producers are featured in screenings and panel discussions at Harvard Art Museums and Kendall/MIT Open Space. The curating process for the 27th Annual Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film Festival started in Fall of 2023. The process was led by Teen Media Program DIYDS!! Crew member who chose the final reel. Selection is based on: clarity of message, integrity of message, meeting the mission of the festival, technical quality, and entertainment value. This complex decision-making process included challenging discussions of all videos which led us to the most rewarding, yet most difficult, decision of all- the selection of the final 27th Annual DIYDS!! A panel discussion with the teen filmmakers and a short reception in the Calderwood Courtyard will follow the screening. The film screening will begin at 6pm in Menschel Hall, Lower Level. Doors will open for seating at 5:30pm at the Broadway entrance. Free admission, but seating is limited. You can register by clicking on the event on this form, beginning Wednesday, May 8, after 10am.
