Toru Takemitsu's piece Rain Tree Sketch II: In Memoriam Olivier Messiaen includes aspects of Messiaen's personal musical style. Kurtag's Jatekok pieces are written as memorials to deceased friends or reflect aspects of their personality that he inscribes in music.
